How do I convert Excel to Markdown?+

Upload an XLS or XLSX workbook, or paste a public HTTPS link to one. MarkAny converts supported worksheet content into Markdown sections and tables.

Can I copy an Excel table as Markdown?+

Yes. After conversion, preview the generated Markdown tables in the browser and copy the result or download it as a .md file.

How are multiple Excel worksheets represented in Markdown?+

Supported worksheets are placed in separate Markdown sections, using worksheet names as headings so the workbook structure remains understandable.

What happens to Excel formulas?+

A formula may appear as formula text or as its displayed value, depending on the workbook and conversion result. Check calculated cells before reusing the Markdown.

Are merged cells and charts preserved in Markdown?+

Markdown tables cannot reproduce merged cells, charts, or spreadsheet layout exactly. Review these elements and edit the resulting tables when needed.

Can I convert multiple files at once?+

Yes. Add up to five files of the selected type, with a 50 MB limit per file and a 250 MB total selection limit. MarkAny processes up to two at once and lets you cancel or retry individual items.

What happens to files I upload?+

File-to-Markdown conversion uses MarkAny’s cloud storage and conversion infrastructure. The current service does not publish a guaranteed deletion timeframe, so do not upload confidential, sensitive, or regulated material.
